In Kenya, a smart Primary Health Care Ecosystem project has started that is supported by the Philips Foundation. AfyaPro Connected Care will be installed along with the Mobile Obstetrics Monitoring (MOM) software, a maternal health solution developed by the Philips Innovation Centre. AfyaPro Connected Care will be installed in two Faith-based and two public health facilities in Kiambu County this year. All sites are located relatively in peri urban – middle income settings as well as rural – poor income areas, just outside Nairobi. The AfyaPro solution also includes an eCare Center for cardio-vascular and diabetes treatment centre. The eCare Centre will also play a key role in Covid-19 screening. The Philips Research Centre and the Africa eHealth Foundation have started conducting research on the outcome of results and its impact. The challenging question is; can we make a social impact by creating an ecosystem of solutions that fit in the Kenyan context of both the middle and lower income classes?
